Cervical Smear Tests are relatively quick and simple tests performed to detect early abnormal cells that could progress to form cevical cancer.
We are registered with CervicalCheck - The National Screening Programme and therefore can perform these tests for ladies free of charge.
Women aged 25-44yrs are entitled to a test every 3 years and from 45-60 yrs every 5 years (More frequently if any test found to be abnormal ).
The ideal time to perform the test is about 2 weeks after the first day of your last period. If you do not get periods we can pperform the test at anytime once you are not bleeding.
HPV or the Human Papiloma Virus accounts for about 70% of cervical cancers - There is a vaccine available for this virus and can be discussed with your Doctor at your appointment .
